Tom has lost his long battle with M.S. (Multiple sclerosis, also known as MS, is a chronic disease that attacks the central nervous system, i.e. the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. In severe cases the patient becomes paralyzed).
Tom's M.S. never went into remission. The disease landed him in a Wheel Chair most of his adult life. His wife Mary and the immediate family gave him wonderful care all those years. He also had many friends who thought of him often.
Tom had four special friends who cared for him for all those adult years while he was confined to the chair. Rodney and Tena Poe along with Gary and Donna Shipley were the classmates that were always with Tom during this long illness. The class of 58 thanks you four for what you have done for Tom.
While in high school, Tom was an athlete and a member of the 1957 championship football team.
David Snavely passed away recently. He was a year younger and most likely a member of the class of 1959. He was married to our classmate Barbara Ehlers.
Classmate Phyllis Anthony Brown has lost her husband Marvin Brown. Marvin who was a member of the North High class of 1957 passed away in June of 2015.
It is with a heavy heart that we tell you that our dear friend and committee member Jay Woodward passed away last evening.
As some of you may know that last July Jay was diagnosed with lung cancer and has been in treatment up until December of 2014. Jay called last month and said he was still feeling better and had been able to get out some and even went to that Monday lunch group.
Jay’s wife “Jodi” called with this news. Jodi said Jay had been hospitalized for 10 days in March but was doing better and then after being home he began to decline and on Thursday the 2nd they put him “in hospice” however he stayed at his home.
Jodi said they are only going to have a private service for the family, but there will be an article in the obituaries in Omaha. They have four sons, two in Omaha and two in Florida.
Here is the Woodward’s home address in case any of you want it and don’t know where your reunion book is!
